Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning?

Let's see how many can answer this question ,or better yet, know what I'm talking about.

For those of you that do grasp the meaning of the question I'm looking for answers from around the world. Americans may get this first but let's see.  I have 4 months to see what type of responses I get.  In advance Thank You for your help.

I'll start the answers -- it's only fair to those who join me here.

I was working in Rhode Island. We had a television in the lobby and we all more or less just watched in shock.  Our building was locked down and we finally got to leave around 2PM.

The next day was worse. Our building was next to the Providence RI Amtrack station.

A train coming through was stopped, the RI State Police,Providence Police,Secret Service and FBI

cordoned off the station. We were locked down again and luckily were able to go home around 5PM.

are you talking about august 1945, when the USA murdered 200,000 civilians in Hiroshima and Nagasaki by dropping atom bombs on them? i wasn't born yet.
or maybe you mean the days when the USA murdered 250,000 civilians in Dresden and Hamburg by firebombing them? I wasn't born then either.
Perhaps you are referring to the million Iraqis murdered by Americans since 2003. But that doesn't qualify as a 'day', does it? Nor does it seem to be over yet: it will go on and on for billions of years, thanks to uranium dust. And because the world keeps turning, that uranium dust will be here too soon, to do its dirty work here as everywhere else.
As far as I know, the world is still turning, despite these dreadful deeds. Perhaps for you it has stopped. Did you lose your little job? Did your wife run off with the kids and take them to stay with a succession of boyfriends who helped her clean out your bank account? Come on, tell us - when did your little world stop turning? don't keep us in suspense!

I was at work at a title company- looking for files in the next office to mine. I thought it was an extremely tasteless joke at first. My boss didn't seem to care about what was happening- her biggest problem was she couldn't go to Vegas on the day she planned, then yelled at me when one of the companies clients, a mortgage brokers actually asked why he didn't get his paperwork from Chase Manhattan Bank!!!

thank you for the comments. keep them coming. 911 was a traumatic time.
Thanks so far for the reflections. As I said, this is all for a 911 remembrance speech I have to prepare. All your prospectives will help me shape a very meaningful tribute. eric111 and steelyard , you're entitled to your opinions. That's what makes America great. But I'm sorry to say you've added nothiung to the basic question. I'm looking for insight and many have provided that. I answered first and for those who have responded Thank You. For those who are still to respond I welcome your comments.

For a moment in history, I thought the world had stop turning, but I was aware that somehow it did not stop turning. Here in South Africa people were shocked in disbelieve. Everyone was glued to the television. September the 11th was a terrible day for the world and for America. This horrific terrrorist attack has shocked the world and brought a nation to its knees...........
