Life is good - we just need to overlook the BS and beyond the ignorance of people to find the good. Thanks for The Blog and an extra thanks to your son for the sacrifices he gave, and for what you went through as his mother, so he could step forward and try to help us have a safer country to live in. Well, I agree that it's always worth to talk about the good things in life, and there are more to discover each and every day than we are often aware of. So, I'm coming from a very positive attitude to life as such.

I'm afraid that you did not choose the best example for "good things to talk about" when you spoke about your son and the war in Iraq. Of course, I understand your happiness as a mother who sees her son surviving in this crazy war, I would feel the same way as a father, but we shouldn't forget that this war in Iraq is a crazyness as such. It has been begun only because of some weird political interests of the current American government and some even weirder personal considerations of the current president, and this war had nothing to do with any improvements of the security situation in the States. Most Americans agree to that nowadays, it has been proved by many independent observers and investigators, and we hear about the tricks of the American government in the news daily. Those thousands of victims on all sides are an incredible tragedy .. and please remember, Iraqi soldiers have mothers too.

So, let's talk about Iraq and let's talk about the good things, but let us not mix up both.

First I have to say... you have every right to be very proud of your son for choosing to fight and protect his country.. It is a very honorable thing to do, and I am very proud of all the men and women who choose to do so.. Secondly, I will also say that this war is built on nothing but lies, by a man who is not interested in the safety of this country, but more in having control of the oil... Then I will say that there are no winners in a war...only survivors... The war is a tragedy for both sides, and neither sode should blame the other, but lay the blame on the government who orders these soldiers to go fight..there are women and children losing their husbands and fathers on both sides, and it is not right for either... the only difference between us is the land of our birth, the culture and the color of our skin.... people need to look past these things and realize that we all belong to the same race....the human race... I wish both sides of this a happy and safe holiday and wishes for a better new year..... bless all the soldiers and take them home safely soon

some of them were put in prison and some left the country and went to canada

I have to disagree with the statement that the people who left the country are heroes... these people are not willing to protect their home , and in my opinion they should not be allowed back in their country... I can understand that they may not agree with the war... but they should not join the military if they don't want the job... and not all soldiers rape their victims.... and they are not there because they want to kill innocent people .. they are following the orders given them by the president..if anyone should be blamed for the war..put the blame on President Bush..it is his lies that have started this war.. I know that there are good and bad soldiers on both sides... but it is not fair to blame all of them for what a few do.. that would be as wrong as blaming all middle eastern people for what osama bin laden did when he attacked america... it is not right .. we are all human with the same good and bad inside we just have to choose which part we want to let control our lives.. I don't know who wrote it but they should have signed it. Some powerful words. This woman should run for president.

Written by a housewife from New Jersey and sounds like it! This is one ticked off lady.

"Are we fighting a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it not started by Islamic people who brought it to our shores on September 11, 2001?

Were people from all over the world, mostly Americans, not brutally murdered that day, in downtown Manhattan , across the Potomac from our nation's capitol and in a field in Pennsylvania ?

Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning or crushing death that day, or didn't they?

And I'm supposed to care that a copy of the Koran was "desecrated" when an overworked American soldier kicked it or got it wet?...Well, I don't. I don't care at all.

I'll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11.

I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring about the Holy Bible, the mere possession of which is a crime in Saudi Arabia

I'll care when these thugs tell the world they are sorry for chopping off Nick Berg's head while Berg screamed through his gurgling slashed throat.

I'll care when the cowardly so-called "insurgents" in Iraq come out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in mosques.

I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide .

I'll care when the American media stops pretending that their First Amendment liberties are somehow derived from international law instead of the United States Constitution's Bill of Rights.

In the meantime, when I hear a story about a brave marine roughing up an Iraqi terrorist to obtain information, know this: I don't care.

When I see a fuzzy photo of a pile of naked Iraqi prisoners who have been humiliated in what amounts to a college-hazing incident, rest assured: I don't care.

When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take it to the bank: I don't care.

When I hear that a prisoner, who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat, and fed "special" food that is paid for by my tax dollars, is complaining that his holy book is being "mishandled," you can absolutely believe in your heart of hearts: I don't care.

And oh, by the way, I've noticed that sometimes it's spelled "Koran" and other times "Quran." Well, Jimmy Crack Corn and-you guessed it-I don't care !!
