 | Hi, my name is Alexander, so may know me sahmanosu, I just got these two email about scams that are going out and like to tell you about them so you can, look at for them.
Men and Women should be aware of an increase in scams involving instant messages (AIM, Facebook, Google, Yahoo, etc.) and people requesting money. As noted in previous notice, these scams are targeted at males receiving messages from females. The on-line person is not known to you other than as an on-line person. She appears to be a friend or to be interested in becoming your girl friend or even wife. For several days, you may communicate with instant messages. She'll send you pictures that supposedly are of her, asking that you do the same in return. The person begins to call you names such as "honey" or "my love" or "dear one" but may not call you by your name. The person will begin to ask you for money to help with several different things, like a trip to see you, medical bills, school bills, and so on. She may suggest that her parents approve of you, your school, your looks. The person will seem very apologetic but will make you feel like she needs you and your money will help her out. These are scams targeting young men who are lonely or looking for excitement.
As previously noted, the person who is scamming is not whom "she" appears to be and is in fact very likely a male in Africa, China, or Russia using a false name in order to get money or identity information for identity theft. "She" may ask that the money be sent to her by a credit card, cash, or money order. Additional names reported in this scam are Sonia, Sonja, Jessica, Jessi, NadiaSam, and SamanthaJo. If you correspond on instant messages with anyone fitting these names or with these types of requests for money, DO NOT SEND any money and stop correspondence with the person immediately to protect yourself. The person will attempt to find other ways to involve you (promising love and attention) in order to get money or indications of your identity for identity theft. Do not share where you live, work, class hours, vacation plans, with these scammers. Stop all communication immediately; set blocks to refuse instant messages, send emails to junk folders.
