Nursing assistants, also known as nursing aides, are the nurses who interact most with the patients. These nurses help the patients with their daily routine activities. They observe the patients very closely and always stay with them so if patients need anything they can provide or in case something goes wrong, they can call the senior nurses or doctor, for this reason they are sometimes known as the eyes and ears of Registered Nurses. It is the duty of a Nursing assistant that they help the patient with washing, feeding and bed pans.  They also help the patient to move in and out of the bed. You can progress your career towards a licensed practical nurse, registered nurse or any specialized nurse. There are many specializations in the field of nursing, but for that you must reach the highest rank of a nurse in hospital and that is the rank of a registered nurse. You can choose to specialize in midwifery which will enable you to get hired to take care of a pregnant lady, you can choose to become a school nurse where you will be taking care of children and there are many more options available.

If you want to become a nursing assistant you can choose to take admission in a school or college which is offering you cna training. There are plenty of nursing assistant schools all over the country. Red Cross, Gross Mont Health Occupations, South western, Palomar and Mira Costa are the most well reputed colleges for the training of a nursing assistant. If you cannot get admission in these colleges, there are many more nursing assistant schools. It is not very difficult to get admission in these schools; all they need is a high school diploma. If you are unable to provide the high school diploma, you can still get admission and you get a 9th grade reading test and if you even fail then they will provide you with some extra classes and give counseling for adult education and other nursing educations.

If you cannot afford to get admission in these nursing assistant schools then you can also get your training from an online nursing schools, these schools will provide you training in less cost with the advantage of attending classes in your home without any time restrictions. You can also choose to get your training from a nursing home  where you will not be charged at all but you will have to sign an agreement which will restrict you to work only for them for a certain time period on relatively low wages so that they can get pay back.
