He  Said She Said

He said it would be alright, that tomorrow is always better than today

She said that she would believe him, that there would always be a better day

As he became older, and she became a young woman, that promise seemed to hold true

She would say that though life was hard, as long as she’s breathing it would get better

He would say that’s my girl, keep trekking, keep up your spirit

And one day, yes that one somber day, he said nothing at all

No more words of wisdom, no heartfelt stories to share with his little girl

Just no more…

She said that it was part of the life cycle, that it would happen one day

She said that she would be ok, that life goes on

She said what people wanted and expected to hear

Just no more…

It’s those emotions that we try so hard to hide that bear so much pain and grief

This is for you little one,

For he might be gone, but never without a doubt forget

That tomorrow is always better
