![]() | Theres probably lots of things to test our 'friends' here. I was talking to a lady and wanted her to prove she's real. I sent my photo (at her request holding a bear in left hand) She replied 4 days later holding the photo of me with a white paper in other hand saying 'your turn Rob :)' Still talking to her. Common sense things like giving yahoo/gmail straight away is a RED FLAG. Scammers steal creditcard info, sign up at a dating site...blast as many as they can with thier email and when discovered and deleted they have still got a subscriber list,so to speak, and can begin the process again. After second/third email do this. Send a silly email like "i heard you like honey in your shoes?" This only works for BAT scripts in that a real person will reply...WTF....ect. If the scammer is answering the emails (highly unlikely..its a NUMBERS game...) then check some of these http://www.stop-scammers.com/warning_signs.asp Heres a search engine that checks forums, dating sites, google ect... just use the email or some text in profile: http://www.chanceforlove.com/blacklist/gss/ lastly...i can see where your coming from elle3 but anyone serious cant seriously have the time to sift through this crap. And some of us have been searching for a long time and don't need these red herrings..we have better things to do.But your right about those nude photo dweebs...they'll only attract there own kind. chowzie, Rob | ![]() |

![]() | (But, I honestly think you can find a lot more genuine friendship at other SNS sites that don't say "dating" up front -- e.g. facebook, myspace, orkut, mixi, youtube). = Quote by Hadoman Hmmmmm I disagree with you there. Those communities are a bit bigger so scammers are a bit less notable. Still I have at least 6 of them contacting my myspace profile, and 8 a week What is up with all you ding-dongs, = Quote by John Hessmer Maybe a more friendly wording wouldn't be bad. It is good tha it is being discussed. Information and Education is the best weapon there is against those scammers. Also you state uk in your post. However I do agree with the fact that most scammers come from Russia or Africa, I do not agree with the statement that people who claim to be from the UK are scammers by definition. I have been in contact with scammers claiming to be from the USA, Italy, The Netherlands, Spain, France, Germany and go on. the list is endless. Are you now also claiming that if people claim from those countries are scammers? In general follow your gutfeelings, if indeed it sounds too good, it probably is. Stay talking onsite and do not go off site after only one or two mesages. And then there is always google. try to google the emailaddress or the part before the @ or the username. A lot of times it might help you identify scammers if they are reported. There are lots of good sites out there who list and "fight" the scammers. Get yourself educated by googling love scams or romance scams. Stay safe | ![]() |

![]() | @ hadoman It's probably that they are also concerned about the reverse-abusing b/c anyone can say that certain profiles are scams without providing a solid proof. I certainly don't want anyone to come out and say I am a scam for no reason. i have reported many proviles WITH the solid proof, and when i say solid then i mean solid like: *copy of chats *copy of emails *copy of other scambusting sites showing they turned up in previous scams and so on but no action taken | ![]() |

![]() | i chatted with a girl telling me she was from cinci, but at school in canada, her profile says new york, but, i didn't go by that, since my location is listed wrong. anyway, the next time we chatted, she was in ghana and had a car wreck, needed money for blood, i told her i would send her blood, and asked where she was from, she replied, broolkine, so i stopped the chat, and saw her pic in 2 other profiles on another site, 1 profile, she is from ohio, the other, she is from ghana | ![]() |

![]() | Well, this SCAM issue IS being addressed now. We work on adding new tools to the site, which will let community fight scammers better. It looks like reporting thing doesn't help much - lots and lots of profiles are reported and we delete/ban them, but this just leads to new and new scam profiles on site. Awareness and community seem to be the key and a site update is coming soon. | ![]() |

![]() | Blacklist is a good idea if it means we have a means to quickly check our feeling that a profile might be a scammer. If enough people list the profile maybe the site could monitor this blacklist and act on these profiles that are being reported multi times. Great to hear an update is coming. i'm not a scammer and I'll be happy to chat. I have Yahoo but only as a backup to my original email site. Finally, I agree with many of the posts - if it seems to good it is. And common sense and gut instinct will always work. Good Post - thank you. | ![]() |

![]() | happened to me too, a man states he went to Africa for vacation with his son, lost his wallet, hotel manager took their passports , visa expired, son got sick, etc, . now, bad language is a good hint, and they spell words differently, like instead of color , they write colour. Also, use mum for mom. I've been contacted by so many of these ppl , i've lost count. Just be wise and use caution. Anytime anyone says Africa , i say bye! Good luck to each of u.... | ![]() |

![]() | LOL, Don't bother with lists! They change their name and photos almost daily and have multiple profiles. Just expect EVERYONE here to be fake and ask for personal webcam (not shows) zip codes, area codes, phone numbers etc. and check their personal email with http://whatismyipaddress.com/staticpages/index.php/trace-email-source-IP-address | ![]() |

Never send ur pic or ur real name until make sure they are real. Most complain of network, accidents, money for trip, visa and artificial profiles and accidents .Then give ur emails to their mates to cheat u by other ways. NEVER MONEY! | ![]() |
