 | Fitzgerald honored to tie Green's record Wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald is tied with Roy Green for the franchise lead in touchdown receptions with 66.It's an honor for me because I have had a great personal relationship with Roy over the years, Fitzgerald said. He took me under his wing and taught me so much about the nuances of the game and I'm very appreciative of that relationship.Just to be mentioned with him, it's really an honor.Fitzgerald has more receptions against Seattle 88 than any other team.Quarterback Kevin Kolb is ranked second in the NFL behind Aaron Rodgers in passer rating for the fourth quarter. Kolb's rating is 143.8. He has passed for 205 yards and two touchdowns in the quarter.Penalties hurt the Cardinals last week. They committed 10 of them, including six on defense. You talk about some penalties at the wrong time, said defensive end Vonnie Holliday, who came to the Cardinals in the Hightower trade. You work hard to get people in third and long, and then..you do something to continue to the drive. It is not something that is Xs and Os, but just a mental breakdown and that is tough.Tight end Jeff King has touchdown receptions in each game. Last year the Cardinals' tight ends did not score. King is one short of a career high. He had three touchdowns for Carolina in 2009.BY THE NUMBERS 23-3 That's the Cardinals' record under Whisenhunt when leading after three quarters. One of those three losses came last week against the Redskins.QUOTE TO NOTE When did we play good defense the whole day, as opposed to late in the game? That's an area we've got to improve. Look at how the whole day went, we didn't slow them down. That's not good enough. That's something we've got to improve on. Coach Ken Whisenhunt when asked about his team giving up an 8-point lead in the second half last week.Copyright C 2011 The Sports Xchange. All Rights Reserved. So it'll be a great opportunity for them, and I think if it happens, they will be looking forward to it.PLAYER NOTESLG Ben Grubbs missed his second consecutive practice due to a lingering toe injury. After making 67 straight starts, Grubbs is in danger of sitting out his second consecutive game.OT Mark LeVoir appears to have the inside track to start at left guard for Grubbs. LeVoir got the nod over Andre Gurode to start there against the Tennessee Titans last Sunday.NT Terrence Cody intends to start Sunday against the St. Louis Rams. Cody, who practiced Thursday on a limited basis, said the concussion he sustained against the Titans is no longer an issue.C Matt Birk returned to full participation after missing Wednesday's session with his left knee injury. He is expected to start.DE Cory Redding returned to practice on a limited basis after sitting out Wednesday. He is dealing with a toe injury.CB Lardarius Webb is expected to be the primary kick returner against the Rams. Webb, who is also a starting cornerback and the team's primary punt returner, handled all three assignments in the season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers.INJURY IMPACT Five Ravens starters wide receiver Lee Evans left ankle, center Matt Birk left knee, left guard Ben Grubbs toe, defensive end Cory Redding toe and nose tackle Terrence Cody concussion did not practice on Wednesday. Wide receiver/kick returner David Reed left shoulder strain and cornerback Jimmy Smith high left ankle sprain also did not participate and are expected to miss the next few weeks.GAME PLAN The Ravens have to return to the rushing attack that proved to be tremendously effective against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the season opener. The tandem of starter Ray Rice and backup Ricky Williams should be able to make positive gains against a St. Louis Rams defense that ranks dead last against the run. Defensively, the Ravens have to slow down the Rams' no-huddle offense, which worked so well against the New York Giants that at least two Giants players appeared to fake injuries. The possible absence of running back Steven Jackson, who is dealing with a strained quad, might allow the defense to focus most of its attention on quarterback Sam Bradford.MATCHUPS TO WATCH Ravens LB Terrell Suggs, who leads the Ravens in sacks with three this season, against Rams LT Rodger Saffold, who was the only NFL rookie to start all of his team's game at last tackle last season. Suggs leads the AFC in sacks and is tied for second in the NFL.Ravens WR Anquan Boldin, who leads the offense in receiving yards with 120, against Rams CBs Justin King and Bradley Fletcher. Boldin has posted six 100-yard games against the Rams in his career, and his 1,064 yards against the Rams is the most he has compiled against any NFL opponent.Copyright C 2011 The Sports Xchange.
