The sad truth is Africa is rich with minerals and non renewable resources the world needs to function. The soil in much of africa is the most fertile in the world. Agriculture should be no problem, however lawlessness and opression continue to keep a naturally wealthy continent smashed into third world status. Diamonds ,oil, coal, uranium, ore, and the list goes on. Also the most beautiful coastal regions in the world exist ib Africa. The tourism alone could civilize the continent. Africa could feed the world if it were farmed correctly. Simply the people of Africa need to take responsibility.

Sitting Bull, I too have Native American blood running inside me. Blackfoot Indian. My grandmother is from South Dakota and full blooded blackfoot. I do not know much about that heritage unfortunately. I do know of the travesties levied upon the natives. People seem to be blind or to have turned a blind eye toward the slaughter.

Everyone here congratulales Sitting Bull. Did I miss something? What is he proposing? A rethink..yes...but what kind of action? By democracy? or through the useless UN? How is the question????? No easy answer, but certainly self government is not working...I agree....

Dont be so quick to blame the US on this crisis...although the US and others could do more in troubled areas like Darfur....selling weapons is the first thing that should stop...and the churches should enlighten people and encourage abortion for women who have become pregnant from rape.

colonization is not a humanitarian project aimed at spreading sweetness and light - it's a way of extracting as much as possible out of a colony, while if possible planting the less useful of the colonial power's citizens where they can be less of a burden to it, and burden someone somewhere else instead.

but colonialism is passe, except in palestine, where it is an ongoing criminal enterprise. it is much easier, cheaper and more effective just to buy the local dictator and make him do what you want. that's how britain, france and the usa have acted since at least the second world war.

so america south of the rio bravo (that's the real name of the rio grande, gabachos) was for a long time under the heel of tinpot dictators, each of them under the thumb of the usa. from time to time the people would try to overthrow them, and the usa would send in the marines. and then americans would say how restless the natives are in south america. well, i would be restless too if jackbooted thugs were looting my country and telling me it's for my own good.
america and britain are trying to colonize the middle east, but they're getting their butts seriously kicked. meanwhile, they've ruined their own economies because they think somehow it's cheaper to steal resources than pay for them. so they're not going to be colonizing anywhere else anytime soon - in fact, they're headed for the trashcan of history, and hwen that happens they will find asians and africans there like vultures to pick over the corpses and - eventually - build something new there.

as for the countries of the rest of the world = and remember, that's 95% or so of the world - well, they will have the examples of china and russia to look to, and they'll kick out the stooges infesting them and eventually work out good governments.
